Welcome to the amazing 5 days Rwanda gorilla trekking tour – an extraordinary safari adventure. The tour will take you through two major national parks in Rwanda namely; Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Each national park gives an extraordinary safari experience. They come with activities such as gorilla trekking in Rwanda, Chimpanzee tracking as well as visiting the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Centre. The roads to these national parks come with views of the rolling hills and lush green vegetation. This confirms the name “The Land of a Thousand Hills.”
The safari incorporates the unique Nyungwe canopy walk too which happens to be the first of its kind in East Africa and the third in Africa, the chilly evenings on Lake Kivu shores, the largest lake in Rwanda and the tour to the Rwandan Institute of Museums in Butare.
Day 1: Visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial and transfer to Ruhengeri (Volcanoes National Park)
Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will meet our professional driver-guide. He or she will brief you about the 5 Days Rwanda gorilla trekking tour. You will then visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre. Here, you will see the remains and the names of thousands of people who lost their lives during the 1994 Rwanda Genocide.
You will continue driving the rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park. You will have a lunch stopover along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your earlier booked lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Do gorilla trekking and transfer to Gisenyi
On the 2nd day of your 5 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari, you will do a gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. After a delicious morning breakfast, meet your guide and go to the park headquarters for a briefing. After learning the dos and don’ts of the gorilla trekking activity, the trekking begins.
You will see multiple primate, animal, and bird species along the way. Upon meeting the gorillas, you are given a full hour to spend in their presence. Spend up to one hour observing and photographing a gorilla family in their natural habitat.
Return to your lodge for lunch. Immediately after lunch, check out of your lodge and transfer to Gisenyi, a scenic town located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, Check into your lakeside accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening, taking in the beautiful views.

Day 3: Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park along the Nile Congo divide
On 3rd day of your 5 days Rwanda gorilla trekking tour, you will have a relaxed morning breakfast at Lake Kivu. This is the moment to take your best photo during the 5 days Rwanda gorilla trekking tour. Afterwards, check out of the lodge. Depart from Gisenyi and journey towards Nyungwe Forest National Park.
As you travel, you will pass through the Nile-Congo divide, a geographical feature that separates the watersheds of the Nile and Congo Rivers. You will have lunch en route. Arrive at Nyungwe Forest National Park and check into your accommodation. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing and preparing for the next day’s activities.

Day 4: Do Chimpanzee trekking in the morning and Nyungwe canopy walk in the afternoon
On the 4th day of your 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking tour, you will track chimpanzees and do a canopy walk. Start the day with an early breakfast. Later, embark on a chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. Trek through the lush forest, guided by expert trackers, in search of these fascinating primates. Spend time observing and learning about the behavior of chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
After the trek, you will return to your lodge and enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
In the afternoon, experience the thrilling Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a suspension bridge that offers panoramic views of the forest canopy. During the walk, you will meet multiple bird species. Some of these birds are rift valley endemics while others are migratory – they can be seen in specific seasons.
Return to your accommodation and relax for the evening.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali. Visit the National Institute of Rwandan Museums en route in Butare
This is the final day of your 5 days Rwanda gorilla trekking Safari. It starts with a delicious morning breakfast at your lodge. Check out and begin your journey back to Kigali.
En route, visit the National Institute of Rwandan Museums in Butare, where you can learn about Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage.
Continue the drive to Kigali, where you will be dropped off at your preferred location, such as your hotel or the airport.
